Uuhhhh, hello? This is your resident slacker speaking. Born and raised in New York City (a Jamaica, Queens native), it would be nice to say that I am a master of snappy comebacks, fast talking, and one-upping. Sadly, I am not. I was brought up in a very conservative, very non-New York household- Mom’s from Wisconsin (Yay Cheeseheads!) and my dad hails from the island of Jamaica (Irie, man). All of this resulted in a very successful private elementary, middle, and high school education, with stellar grades and a resume to boot.
Something magical happened, however, when I stepped onto the threshold of my soon-to-be alma-mater, Notre Dame: I discovered Slackerism. Some people call it senioritis, but I must have contracted it in my junior year of high school.
My new religion truly blossomed in college. I became the Queen of Sleeping In. All-nighters are just as second-nature to me as 15-hour sleepfests.
By some fluke of fate, or skin color, I can’t be exactly sure, I ended up in the Honor’s Program, so I have the insider’s track on the Smart People. Heck, I am one of the Smart People. Not for nothing am I a physics-turned-philosophy-major.
That doesn’t take away from the fact that I thoroughly enjoy my unbridled Social Life.
I also, by the way, enjoy reading, curling up in front of the fireplace, and long walks on the beach. (Honestly, who doesn’t enjoy those things?)
